Locomotive Electrician
Specializing in propulsion system conversion, refurbishment, repair and modernization of locomotives, passenger trains and freight cars, CAD Rail Industries is currently looking for a locomotive electrician.
Roles and responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, install and test electric motors, generators, alternators, industrial accumulator batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems;
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and prescriptions to determine
location of electrical equipment; - Install, check, replace and repair electrical cables, outlets, switching boxes, conduits, arteries, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other components;
- Modify and repair electrical control panels;
- Perform tests of electrical and electronic equipment and components to verify continuity, current, voltage and resistance;
- Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, distribution panel meters, regulators and reactors;
- Check the quality of the work;
- Complete the production sheets;
- Put away equipment and clean the work area;
- Perform any other task required by Operations.
Job requirements
- Hold a DEP in industrial maintenance or maintenance electricity;
- Having professional experience on locomotives would be an asset;
- Be able to read and understand procedures in English;
Skills and competences
- Ability to read blueprints and do basic calculations;
- Able to work in a team and independently;
- Have a functional level in English, spoken and read;
- Be manual and have basic mechanical skills;
- Be willing to learn and develop skills;
- Be flexible about the tasks to be accomplished;
- Have a good physical condition and able to work in difficult conditions: heat and cold, noise, dust and odors;
- Be available to work various shifts (day or evening).
